The first-person autobiographical record of radical feminist activist Nikki Craft — an Author’s Note, an Introduction, and a nine-section catalog of the warnings, cautions, and discouragements she received across five decades of political life, each answered with her refrain: “I did it anyway.” The Author’s Note documents her resistance to writing in the first person and her public reversal — a change made, she writes, “not out of compliance” but “out of accuracy, responsibility, and truth.” The Introduction frames the catalog as a structural record of the machinery of political suppression — how warnings are delivered, internalized, and become a voice inside a woman’s own head — intended to help other women recognize and track their own hesitations. The list spans activism and civil disobedience; radical media, art, and documentation; AI and cultural resistance; animal rights and rescue; environmentalism and extreme physical risk; conflicts within the feminist movement; policing and state power; internet and speech; and the warnings she overruled from her own conscience. Presented as part of Craft’s ongoing archival project and her documentation of activist–AI collaboration.
